Spiffier Dog House

I'm closing on a condo today. Scio Village will now be the main base for all my world-mastering schemes and reindeer games.

If you care at all about the floor plan -- and let's not kid ourselves, we both know you do -- Unit 218 is the new V-Dog House.

Historic Amherstburg

Spent the weekend a few miles south of Detroit in Amherstburg, Ontario. All the charm of a small Canadian town with a few unexpected gems thrown in. We arrived by boat, thanks to the captainship of good friend, Jeff Trombley, and his vessel.

Dinner Friday night was at Caldwell's Grant. The alluring atmosphere of the open-window restaurant is surpassed only by the incredible selection of menu offerings. I had the Seafood Jambalaya, which rivals anything I've tried in New Orleans.

To top it off, the owner, Grant, is one of the nicest people you could meet.

The next day we tried a somewhat hard-to-find little Italian placed called Don-Luciano's Place. Authentic Italian cuisine, served to perfection. Luciano was kind enough to offer us complimentary shots of sambuca and engage us with entertaining conversation.

I can't recommend either of these places enough.

I can't forget to mention a fun new place call Uncle Vito's Rythem Kitchen. The perfect place to go after dinner. Live music, dancing, pool, and even a two lane bowling alley were enough to keep us entertained late into the evening.

If you're in the Great Lakes region and are looking or a little weekend getaway, Amherstburg is a perfect choice.

Good Day, Eh?

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Happy Canada Day!
